I live is a resort community. I love all the activities and neighbors. But sometimes it is nice to have some privacy. I saw this Privacy divider and thought I would give it a try. The retractable feature is what caught my eye. When I received it I just had to get it installed as soon as possible.
When I open the box everything was packaged nicely. There are 3 internal boxes. The hardware was in a small bot, the other 2 boxes held the end post and the retractable divider and a shorter post were in the other. The hardware box has everything you need to install on any smooth flat surface. The installation is actually super easy on a wood decking installation application. Concrete would only need slightly more work with a hammer drill. The installation start to finish too me about 5 minutes. I as expecting it to take much more time and work than it actually did.
After installation it take a slight bit of force to pull the retractable divider and place it in the end post. The divider function great and looks awesome. It is super easy to open an close the divider after you get used to how it functions.
The quality of the divider is second to none. The main material is made of high grade aluminum. This must by why the divider is 5' tall and sturdy yet super light weight. The finish on the metal is very attractive. The canvas is very sturdy and looks very well made.
Overall I think this is a very high quality product. When installed and maintained properly this divider should last for years to come.

3 things the vendor should do:
1. The phillips head screws require a #3 bit and still strip out unless you apply SERIOUS down force. If they were star screws, they wouldn't strip.
2. The "10 feet" measurement is non-specific, meaning from where to where? The removable side does NOT fit the same way as the fixed side, so from nearest-bolt-hole to nearest-bolt-hole we went 10 feet (after checking the fit) and all is well.
3. You need a template to get the hole measurement and then pilot hole positions correct.
There's a couple of things you should do - in wood or Trex, be sure to hit a beam dead-center, drill your holes as deep as the screw (if your porch is solid), or you'll strip the phillips before you get it tight or if you miss the beam, yank the post out of the deck. I can't speak about concrete.
Use a #3 phillips bit and a 1/4 inch ratchet with serious down force to tighten.
