The fabric feels a bit stiff, but much softer than a traditional tarp. The corners are well secured, and heavy duty stitching goes all through this sail. This shade lets some light in, so you don't feel like you're in a cave, but it definitely cuts down on the beating you'll take on those hot summer days.

Where other shades are already shaped for you or formed into “traditional” umbrella type shapes, YOU can create YOUR OWN shade area based on YOUR needs because of the anchors ability to be CLIPPED or SCREWED onto any base. And the stretchy properties of the shade means you can pull it as taut as needed without having to worry about losing any coverage.
This is a HUGE advantage if you want to be able to use this shade in more than one area. We originally thought we would put this up over our patio and that would be the end of it. But seeing that we could use it in any number of ways, we've already used it as a shade for our kid to play under in the yard (see picture), we've taken it to a friends house for an outdoor get together, and we've taken it camping! It's light, large, and easy to pack and unpack and has become a frequent companion on our many excursions.

Over all, I believe this is a very high quality and well designed shade. It is adaptable to individual needs and thus makes its purchase an invaluable long term investment.

I recently purchased this Sun shade as an alternative to a Gazebo or a Pergola. I find Gazebos and Pergolas to be space hogs and block natural walkways. This Sun Shade gives you the freedom to either use your home as an attachment or concrete set wood or metal poles to support the shade. Make sure to note when measuring to allow for 14 inches of hardware on top of your sails 17 inches. The end result was fantastic and my wife and I couldnt be happier with the look. Great buy for someone who wants a unique look to their backyard as well as more sun coverage.

All the hardware is stainless steel. The material is surprisingly lightweight and strong and provides decent shade - it's really a tightly woven mesh. The material allows water and wind to pass through - not 100% obviously, but enough so that water won't be trapped and it won't tear it.Great product - just make sure you measure first!This thing is awesome an works very well.
