I just used this deep fryer again, and I'm updating my rating from 4 stars to 5 stars. The things that bothered me before have somehow worked themselves out. For a start, I'm happy to say that the "ready" light works after all. I plugged the unit in and waited about 15 minutes before I even checked it, and when I did, I noticed the light was out, and the oil was ready. I checked the temperature of the oil and it registered about 180C, still not 190C, but much better than before. So I don't know if I had to "break it in" good first or what. All I know is that the things that bothered me before are not problems now. If it changes again for the worse in the near future, I will update again. But I wanted to be fair and let everyone know that for whatever reason, everything seems to be working fine. I made more french fries and they came out perfect. I'm very pleased with this deep fryer and I think for the price it is a very good investment for your collection of small kitchen appliances.
Just a little preview of this great product! My friend had one and I didn't want to give it back, so I ordered my own! It is great for frying home size portions, and little snacks! The window is great to view what your frying without having to open the lid! I love it!
My mom has been wanting a deep fryer with a filter for some time now. I must admit I was a little worried after I ordered because of the reviews saying it was horrible. I have used this a couple times now and do not have any problems that they have listed. The book says that it takes about 20 minutes for the oil to heat up and then the indicator light will go off. My light works just fine and I love that about the fryer. That it lets you know when the oil is hot enough so you do not have to worry about guessing. I really like how the basket pulls up out of the oil to drain all the grease off whatever it is that you are cooking. There is a button on the front of the deep fryer that you push and the kid just comes right up. We cooked in it for about a hour and the outside of the deep fryer became a little warm to the touch but not hot where you can not touch it. The whole deep fryer also breaks down for easy cleaning. The pot that the oil sits in comes out really easy so you can drain the grease and clean it out. And the basket is not connected so it comes out with ease as well. After using it quit a few times you will need to clean it change the filter and there is a button on the top that comes off with ease as well to get to the filter. My mom is really quit pleased with the product and we have not had any problems out of it and it cooks everything just fine.
