The bin has been in constant use in my kitchen ever since. The bin is quite tall and made of shiny stainless that gives it a clean, modern look suitable for any kitchen. You'll find a plastic liner inside with an attached handle for easy removal. Four D batteries provide for automatic opening and closing of the bin lid, something that everyone who has come into my kitchen has had huge fun with! (I thought at first that I might find that automatic opening problematic as the bin lives directly next to my stove. I was relieved to find that you need to pass something directly over the lid for it to open.) There are a couple of drawbacks to this bin. First, you will not want to put anything that might produce a stink in the bin. No plate scrapings, vegetable peels, onion skins and the like. The tight closure of the lid holds all the smell in - and magnifies it. I almost needed a gas mask the first time I went to empty it. Trash bags do not fit well. Tall kitchen bags are too short, so you'll need to use a regular 30-gallon bag. Also, there is no way to readily put the trash bag over the liner while still being able to use the handle. I skipped the handle. I use a very large rubber band that the postman had around a pile of packages he left at my door to keep the bag from slipping down into the can. Larger items like pizza boxes do not fit in the can. That said, this is perfect for paper, paper towels, empty cans (rinse them first to avoid the smell factor) and the like - and of course dust. This convenient dust bin has a great modern look.
