At first I was worried that it would topple over. I was proven wrong, its heavy and keeps the hard drive upright, with non slip pads preventing it from shifting. Nice... at first I had issues with this product as it would not open but it was the hard drive error and not the product itself. I ended up having to wipe my hard drive and it instantly opened. Easy to use and great for future hard drive problems with other computers. I recommend this product to everyone!!
This is a great device. Just as all the ratings and reviews indicate, it works great, is well made, includes all the cords and cables that are needed, and the only way to go if you have multiple hard drives/SSD's in which you find yourself needing only once or twice a week. The only thing I can say that would be an improvement is if they would've included a cover of some kind. Something like a nylon dust cover that would slip over the entire docking station when not in use and no drive is in it. I'll make myself one but if there reading this review that would be a nice additional "kick" to the sale. Definitely a good buy and a great price!
Really happy with this. I replaced a hard drive in my iMac and had problems with the TimeMachine backup, things went from bad to worse as I couldn't unmount the new hard drive to reformat it to try again. I still had the original drive that was functioning and decided the best course of action would be to get a dock for it and do the backup from it. After checking Amazon, I settled on the iDsonix USB SATA hard drive docking station. It was a breeze to use, the unit came with all the needed cables and is plug and play. Once the cables were connected, I plugged the drive in and powered up, the iMac recognized it and after downloading Super Duper from the web the transfer to the new drive was done(in 4 hours). The iDsonix worked flawlessly and it's design is great as the drive is simply plugged in, nothing to open up, unscrew, etc. This would work very well to make a backup drive.
As the title says, it's well built. I am using it for my backup drive to store media. Doesn't take up space on my drive, and I am in love with the USB 3.0 technology it has. The transfer rate is fast when I'm backing up my music. I was worried about the power supply producing noise but I was wrong. It's very quiet when its operating. I recommended this product to a friend who wants to backup his laptop to an extra HDD he has, showed him how it works and he loves it! I would recommend it to you if you backup a lot of data.
Decent, affordable sata to USB 3.0/esata HD dock. Supports 3TB drives, and unlike another dock that I have, I can still read 3TB drives formatted in this dock if I install them directly in my PC. Includes both esata and USB 3 cables. Build quality is on par with other docks I've used and the packaging is quite nice.
